Collared Flycatcher
(Ficedula albicollis)
Black tie in the beechwoods
The Collared Flycatcher is a smart black-and-white passerine that breeds in the deciduous woodlands of the Vrsac Mountains. In spring it uses old tree holes and nestboxes, perching on exposed branches to launch insect-catching flights. Around our forest hides it can offer classic, clean portraits that feel like they belong on the cover of any European bird guide.
Observed in hides: CK waterhole.
Seasons of observation: Spring and summer.
Probability observed: Low.
