Bold, widespread, and unmistakable, the Great Spotted Woodpecker is the most common woodpecker in the Vršac Mountains. Found in nearly all forest types, it’s also the most cooperative for bird photography—often seen at hides in both summer and winter. With striking black, white, and red plumage and a loud drumming call, it’s a true classic for nature lovers and a guaranteed feature in most outings.
