Green Woodpecker
(Picus viridis)
The laughing forager
Famous for its loud, laughing call and vivid green feathers, the Green Woodpecker is a charismatic bird that prefers sunny forest edges and open fields. Though not yet recorded at our hides, it’s a common sight in the surrounding landscape, often foraging on the ground for ants. Its unpredictable movement and bold colors make it an exciting subject for spontaneous photography.
Observed in hides: Malo Srediste Waterhole, Malo Srediste Woodpecker Hide.
