Grey-headed Woodpecker
(Dendropicos spodocephalus)

The quiet green flame

In gentle expansion across the Vršac Mountains, the Grey-headed Woodpecker brings a splash of soft green to drier woodland patches and open clearings. Present year-round, it’s less active in winter but frequently observed in spring and fall. Though not a hide regular yet, it’s often seen just beyond the lens, teasing photographers to go one step further for a perfect shot.

Observed in hides: Malo Srediste Waterhole, Malo Srediste Woodpecker Hide.
Seasons of observation: Year round.
Probability observed: Low.
